The National Snaffle Bit Association has announced three horses and one individual as inductees into the association’s Hall Of Fame for 2022. A Certified Edition has been named an inductee in the Show Horse category; AQHA stallion Dont Skip Zip was named to the Breeding Horse, Stallion category; Ill Be Dun Won It was honored in the Breeding Horse, Mare category; and the late Doug Carpenter was named to the Individual category.
A Certified Edition - Hall Of Fame Show Horse
By Im Certifiable and out out of the Thoroughbred mare Palace Magic, the gelding affectionately known as “Winston” began his show career with trainer Mark Stevens and Susan Steele as a reserve champion at the All American Quarter Horse Congress.
The 17-hand mahogany bay will forever be associated with Non-Pro exhibitor Kristin Mazzarini Martin, with whom his show career exploded under guidance of Bruce and Sue Ellen Vickery, Brian Isbell Garcia and Trisha Yamber, and later in Pleasure Driving with Brian Holmes. A Certified Edition won more than $115,000 and more than 1,100 AQHA points in Open, Amateur and Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle and Pleasure Driving from 2000 to 2010.
Dont Skip Zip - Hall Of Fame Breeding Horse, Stallion
Foaled in 1990 and by Zippo Pine Bar and out of She Shes A Ten, who traces to Three Bars, Dont Skip Zip was a multiple Open and Non-Pro futurity champion, earning the AQHA High Point Junior Western Pleasure Horse award in 1994. He earned more than $16,000 and 179 AQHA points during his show career before turning his attention to the breeding shed.
Dont Skip Zip foaled 22 foal crops that included 432 performing foals who earned more than 80 AQHA World, Congress and European champion or reserve champion titles. In addition, he sired winning AQHA, APHA, ApHC and PHBA champion horses. His foals have lifetime earnings that exceed one million dollars and more than 123,000 points. Among some of his most famous offspring are Cool Lookin Lady, Cool Movin Lady, Dont Skip This Lady, How Bout This Cowboy and Dont Skip My Good Image.
Ill Be Dun Won It - Hall Of Fame Breeding Horse, Mare
Bred by George Countryman Jr., and by Zips Poco Pine and out of Dun Won It (by Win Or Lose), Ill Be Dun Won It earned an AQHA Superior award in Western Pleasure before becoming a top producing broodmare for owner Vickie Kent. Of the 33 foals she has produced, 27 have been AQHA performers. Between their NSBA, AQHA Incentive Fund and World Show earnings, her offspring have earned nearly $450,000 and 11,347 AQHA points, as well as three world champions and six reserve world championship titles.
Just a few of Ill Be Dun Won It’s successful offspring include Won It On A Impulse, Ill Be RV Radical, RV Won Good Version, Won Vital Code RV, Won RV Lopin Machine, Won RV Ridin Machine and I Will Be A Good RV. Ill Be Dun Won It’s foals have gone on to perform in Open and Non-Pro events from Showmanship, Trail, Horsemanship and Halter, to Hunter Under Saddle and Western Pleasure with owners ranging from Rookie level to Level 3.

Doug Carpenter - Hall Of Fame Individual
The late Doug Carpenter literally wrote the book about the Western Pleasure horse in 1996, in which he presented his ideas and concepts for the discipline. His foundation of knowledge about the horse industry included working for trainer Tommy Manion, as well as owners Karen Sullivan and John Mulholland. He later developed a successful partnership with the late Keith Whistle buying, training and selling Western Pleasure horses.
A true lover of the horse, the man known to many as “Carp” most enjoyed being behind the scenes, honing the skills of the horses in his hands, although he also showed to win several major titles. The horses whose reins Doug touched tell the greater story of his great eye and matchmaking skills. Just some of those horses he interacted with were Miss Docs Melody, Hotrodders Jet Set, Ms MBJ Mudlark, Sheza Kinda Fancy, Time To Cash In, Docs Bo Doll, Racy Rumors, Paint Me A Zippo, Cuition, Miss Surely Bars and TNT Fluid Fred. He had $70,890.89 in lifetime NSBA earnings, $30,839 as an Open NRHA rider as well as $89,927 in earnings as an NRHA horse owner.
The NSBA Honors banquet will be held on Sunday, August 14, during the NSBA World Championship Show and Breeders Championship Futurity at the Built Ford Tough Livestock Complex in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
