The NSBA board of directors met on May 7, 2019 and reviewed NSBA Rule 59 regarding Color horse eligibility as it pertains to Solid Bred or Breeding Stock registered horses.

The board voted to add language to the existing rule to include: A Solid Bred or Breeding Stock horse will be eligible for Color classes only if the horse’s sire or dam has regular registry papers with one or more of the following associations: APHA, ApHC, ABRA, IBHA, PHBA or POA. A PtHA solid registered horse is not considered a Color horse unless it is also registered with one or more of the afore mentioned breed associations.

NSBA has seen a surge in participation in the NSBA Color classes. Over the last six years requests for Color Classes have increased 25% year over year. NSBA anticipates continued growth in this area as evidenced by the current upward trend at the NSBA World Show and other shows across the country.

This change will take effect January 1, 2020.  For additional information, please contact the NSBA office.
