The National Snaffle Bit Association regrets to report the NSBA Hall of Fame show horse Harley D Zip has been laid to rest. He lived to the age of 26, and after his phenomenal show career had happily retired to the Papendick family’s home in South Dakota.

The bay gelding earned more points, world championship titles, and AQHA Incentive Fund money than any other horse in the history of Western Riding including winning Open, Amateur, Amateur Select and Youth titles for his owners, the Papendick family of Highview Ranch Quarter Horses of Rapid City, South Dakota.

Harley has earned 6,000 AQHA points, including 2,300 Open Western Riding points. This 16-time World Champion and 9-time Reserve World Champion has multiple Congress championships and Congress Amateur Versatility championships to his credit as well as being a three-time AQHA year-end All-Around High Point Horse; multiple Year-End High Point Junior and Senior Horse wins; and by class, has earned 11 High Point Championships. In 2012, Harley retired at the AQHA World Championship Show.

Harley was inducted into the NSBA Hall of Fame in 2015.
